Mark Murphy makes thoughts on Aaron Rodgers’ future with Packers crystal clear

Green Bay Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy didn’t mince words in saying he wants Aaron Rodgers back with the team come next season.

We don’t have to tell you that Packers fans remain devastated the Packers won’t be playing in the Super Bowl next week. This team had massive expectations, but Aaron Rodgers and the Packers weren’t able to get the job done.

From the moment Green Bay suffered its stunning loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round, the Rodgers rumors have been flying left and right. Will he stay in town or suit up for a new team come the start of the 2022 season? If you ask Packers CEO and President Mark Murphy, he’s hoping Rodgers will keep running out of the tunnel at Lambeau Field.

Packers’ Mark Murphy wants Aaron Rodgers back in Green Bay for 2022

“Matt (LaFleur), Brian (Gutekunst), executive vice president/director of football operations Russ Ball and I are all in agreement that we want Aaron to come back,” Murphy wrote in his monthly column posted on the team site. “He is likely to win his fourth league MVP, is the unquestioned leader of our team and is still playing at a high level at 38. Although we will face many challenges this offseason, I have tremendous confidence in Matt, Brian and Russ.”

The main issue here for the Packers is the salary cap. They’re way over, and Green Bay still has to try and figure things out with superstar wideout Davante Adams. The hope is that the front office can get the band back together, but it’s going to be a tough task.

Rodgers and Adams have both been linked with a potential move to Denver. This week, Rodgers to Tennessee rumors have also come up after he bought some land just outside of Nashville. No one knows what’s going to happen in the coming weeks and months. Rodgers has quite the decision to make, but Murphy no question wants the signal-caller to keep leading his offense out onto the field.
