Cowboys: Micah Parsons made Defensive Rookie of the Year history

The Dallas Cowboys have a young star in Micah Parsons and he’s already making history as he was unanimously named Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Micah Parsons is being awarded for his remarkable accomplishments this season. After a stellar rookie year with the Dallas Cowboys, Parsons was rightfully recognized for how disruptive he was and he was named the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year.

That’s a pretty big deal for a few reasons.

As it turns out, Parsons made some history happen when he received the honor. Parsons is the first player ever to be unanimously named the defensive rookie of the year. That in itself is really big.

Right along with that, Parsons is the first in Cowboys franchise history to be awarded the recognition.

Parsons was clearly remarkable this year. Through the regular season, Parsons started 16 games and made a combined 84 tackles. Most notably, Parsons also had 20 tackles for loss and 13 sacks in the regular season.

It looks like the Dallas defense has a bright future if the 22-year-old can continue to play at this sort of level going forward.

During his college days, Parsons played for the Penn State Nittany Lions. While with the Nittany Lions, Parsons racked up 191 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks. He’s uniquely talented and could be a force to be reckoned with for seasons to come.

Cowboys fans should be thrilled with what the future could look like with Parsons helping anchor the Dallas defense.
