Packers among teams forced to lose home game thanks to 2022 NFL London showcase

While the full matchups have yet to be announced, the Green Bay Packers will lose a home game thanks to the league’s 2022 London showcase.

The Packers’ full schedule has yet to be announced, but they are among three teams — along with the Saints and Jaguars — who will play host in London.

Green Bay’s game will take place at Tottenham Stadium, which was built in April of 2019 to house the Tottenham Hotspur.

The NFL and the Packers will sure hope to have Aaron Rodgers in tow to make that game the headliner. Rodgers has yet to reveal his full intentions for next season, as he’s flirted with retirement and playing elsewhere.

2022 NFL London Games: Which teams are playing?

So far, only the Packers, New Orleans Saints and Jacksonville Jaguars have been announced as hosts in the NFL London series for this season.

As for other international games, the Cardinals will play in Mexico City while the Buccaneers will play in Munich.

The Jaguars have grown accustomed to having a game overseas, as they’re the team most often linked to a permanent move to London. While the NFL has yet to make any such move official and frequently backs Jacksonville as the long-term home of the Jaguars, they do sometimes struggle with attendance. It would be up to Shahid Khan to move the team, if he so chooses.

As for the Saints, they will be entering into Year 2 without future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Drew Brees. Veteran head coach Sean Payton has also moved on, marking a new era in New Orleans Saints football.

All eyes will be on the Packers and Rodgers — one of the greatest football brands the NFL can offer as they try to expand the game to Europe.

While it takes a home game away from the fine folks in Green Bay, it’s an intriguing opportunity for the league and Packers moving forward.
