Eagles GM commits to Jalen Hurts when asked about Deshaun Watson

When he was asked about his team’s interest in Deshaun Watson, Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman made it clear his team had Jalen Hurts.

It doesn’t look like the Philadelphia Eagles are moving on from their young quarterback any time soon. At least that’s the case according to Eagles general manager Howie Roseman.

When Roseman was asked about the Eagles interest in Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, Roseman made it very clear that his team was going to be led by the 23-year-old Jalen Hurts as it moves forward.

Interestingly enough, the Miami Dolphins also made similar sentiments known today. Just as the Eagles have made it clear that they want to continue to develop Hurts, the Dolphins are interested in continuing on with Tua Tagovailoa.

There’s some history connecting Tagovailoa and Hurts as both played for Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide at the same time. Tagovailoa ended up as the starter, beating out Hurts for the job, so the latter ended up finishing out his career with the Oklahoma Sooners. Both were drafted in 2020 and are now heading into their third season in the NFL. Now, it appears as if Tagovailoa and Hurts will both end up holding on to their jobs.

Plenty of teams will be hesitant to approach Watson because of the assault lawsuits that have been filed against him. The allegations are serious and while it seemed like both the Eagles and the Dolphins may have been interested in making a trade happen, it looks like they’re now backing off.
