Eagles a threat to steal Packers All-Pro LB in free agency

If Green Bay Packers linebacker De’Vondre Campbell were to leave for free agency, there is reported interest from the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles are in a great position entering the 2022 league year, They not only have three first-round NFL Draft picks, but they also have over $20 million in cap space to spend. That could help them make a run at some top free agents. It appears they may have their eyes set on one.

According to Evan Massey of NFL Analysis Network, the Eagles are expected to show interest in Green Bay Packers linebacker De’Vondre Campbell in free agency.

Eagles reportedly expected to show interest in Packers LB in free agency

The Packers could lose some talent from the roster that went 14-3 in the regular-season, since they are nearly $30 million over the salary cap threshold, have to wait on an answer from quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and they are reportedly likely to place the franchise tag on wide receiver Davante Adams. Campbell could very well be lost to a team that offers him a big contract.

Campbell spent the first four years of his career with the Atlanta Falcons (2016-19) and one lone season with the Arizona Cardinals (2020). He signed on with the Packers last summer to be their starting middle linebacker, and he made the All-Pro First Team for the first time in his career.

Through 16 regular-season games, Campbell recorded 146 combined tackles, six quarterback hits, five defended passes, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two sacks.

Spotrac projects Campbell to carry a market value of $6.2 million annually.

It will be interesting to see if the Packers are able to keep Campbell. But, the Eagles have some money to spend and are looking to improve after making the playoffs as a Wild Card team.
