It sounds like Bobby Wagner will join a Seahawks rival in free agency

Seahawks fans remain heartbroken that future Hall-of-Fame linebacker Bobby Wagner has been released by the team.

The end of the golden era for Seattle Seahawks football has hit people hard all over the city. Not only is Russell Wilson on his way to Denver, but the team also released superstar linebacker Bobby Wagner.

To make matters worse, Wagner could end up joining an NFC West team. According to Ian Rapoport, the Rams, Cardinals and 49ers have all shown interest in potentially signing the ‘backer.

If he ends up on either of these teams, it would be brutal for Seattle supporters to see.

Bobby Wagner signing with the Rams or 49ers would be tragic

From a Seahawks fans’ perspective, Wagner joining the Cardinals would sting the least. While the two teams don’t like each other, that rivalry doesn’t quite match things with the Rams or 49ers.

However, if Wagner signs with San Francisco or Los Angeles, then there would be some serious agony for plenty of people all over Washington state. It was bad enough seeing Richard Sherman join the 49ers after his days with the Seahawks.

As for the Rams, Los Angeles just won the Super Bowl, which of course was infuriating to see for Hawks lovers. Imagine if Wagner then joined the team and helped them go on another deep postseason run next winter. No one in Seattle wants to see that happen.

With his incredible resume, Wagner is going to receive plenty of attention in free agency. He may be 31 years old, but he’s still got plenty left in the tank and he’ll hope to win at least one more Super Bowl before he hangs up his cleats. If you ask Seahawks fans, they’re hoping that doesn’t happen with San Francisco, Los Angeles or Arizona.
