Haason Reddick returns to Philly, lands with Eagles: Signing grade

Haason Reddick is signing a three-year deal to play for the hometown Philadelphia Eagles.

The former Temple Owls star is coming home, as Haason Reddick is signing with the Philadelphia Eagles in his NFL free agency.

According to Mike Garafolo of The NFL Network, the Eagles have landed Reddick on a three-year deal worth $45 million. $30 million is fully guaranteed and with incentives, the max value for the contract could go up to $49.5 million.

Reddick grew up in nearby Camden, New Jersey and first made a name for himself as star for Temple.

The really cool part in all this is the Owls and the Eagles play at the same stadium. Reddick has great familiarity from playing so many games at Lincoln Financial Field in his late teens and early 20s nearly a decade ago.

Haason Reddick flies home to the Eagles in free agency: Signing grade

From a sentimental standpoint, this signing is fantastic. After struggling out of the gate during his first three years in the league with the Arizona Cardinals, Reddick has really turned it on as a pass-rusher. His last year in The Valley saw him record a career-best 12.5 sacks. He spent last season playing for his college coach Matt Rhule on the Carolina Panthers, registering 11 more sacks.

Since 2022 will be Reddick’s age-28 season out of Temple, the Eagles were able to get him playing at his absolute NFL apex. He will presumably play out the rest of his prime in Philadelphia. Had he not had the productivity he demonstrated the last two seasons, this would have been too much money for him. With Reddick rarely missing games, the Eagles will be getting their money’s worth.

This move checks a lot of boxes, as Eagles fans should be excited about Reddick coming home.
