Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys

Josh Allen silences any Stefon Diggs to Cowboys chatter

If the 2022 NFL offseason has proven anything, it’s that everything is on the table. Could Stefon Diggs be traded to the Dallas Cowboys? Bills QB Josh Allen says no.

The Diggs rumors surfaced thanks to his brother, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs, tweeting that he’d love to play the star wide receiver.

Diggs has been known for his cryptic tweets, especially this offseason, but to expect the Bills to punt on Josh Allen’s best weapon at the start of what many expect to be their peak in the AFC would be odd to say the least. This is not the Tyreek Hill situation — Diggs is signed for two more years.

The Bills quarterback is tired of seeing Diggs’ name mentioned in trade rumors, and while I’m sure he understands Trevon Diggs’ sentiment of wanting to play with his brother, the time for that to occur is not now.

Josh Allen twitter: Stefon Diggs isn’t going anywhere

Short, sweet and to the point.

Stefon Diggs contract

Per Spotrac, Diggs’ contract pays him through 2024, with an opt-out this offseason. Obviously, Diggs nor the Bills used that opt out, keeping him in Buffalo for at least two more seasons, where he’s targeted more than most.

Diggs is relatively underpaid based on the contracts just given out to Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill, both of whom are well over $20 million per year. Diggs will only make $13.56 million in 2022 and $13.65 million in 2023.

Stefon Diggs trade 2022

In an era of player empowerment — a wave of which we’ve never seen before sweeping across the NFL — anything is possible. But Diggs getting traded just as the Chiefs take a step back by dealing Tyreek Hill? That goes against the Bills best interest.

The likelihood of Diggs getting a new contract is far higher than that. Expect either the Bills or Diggs to make those expectations very clear in the near future, as the Buffalo wide receiver is underpaid at his position.
