Former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher had a successful career in the NFL, and his son appears to be following the same path to stardom.
Although college is still several years away for Kennedy Urlacher, he is already being expected to uphold the mantle that his Hall of Fame father, Brian Urlacher, created as a legendary Chicago Bears linebacker.
Kennedy is expected to graduate high school in 2024, but the 6-foot, 185-pound player is already being noticed by college recruiters and professional recruiting analysts.
Currently a sophomore in high school, Kennedy has already received offers from three different colleges in Arizona and New Mexico. Kennedy was also noticed by CBS Sports recruiting analyst Tom Lemming, who described him as a “student of the game with good range and instincts.”
Kennedy Urlacher is a rising prospect who is projected to have a successful career in the NFL, just like his father. Kennedy’s career is already starting to mirror Brian’s. Brian played college football for the University of New Mexico, and there’s a strong possibility his son will do the same.

Brian achieved a great deal throughout his 13-year career in the NFL as was one of the best defensive players in Bears history. During his historic NFL career, Brian “became the first player in franchise history to have a 90-plus yard fumble return for a touchdown and an 80-plus yard interception returned for a score.” Brian also famously “led the team in sacks in 2000, interceptions in 2007, and in tackles eight of his 13 seasons in the league.” Brian was also a perennial Pro Bowl favorite, making the popular game eight times over the course of his career. As one of the leading linebackers of his era, Brian was named to the NFL All-Decade Team of the 2000s.
Kennedy is excelling in high school football with 46 total tackles in just two years. Half of his tackles were solo, and he averages 4.2 tackles per game. He will likely only get better as he approaches college.
Brian Urlacher is undoubtedly one of the most dominant players in NFL history, and his son is showing potential to be just as impressive on the defensive side.
