New York Jets, NFL Draft

Watch Sauce Gardner try to run away from getting picked by the Jets

Sauce Gardner could not find the stage after being drafted by the New York Jets.

From seeing ghosts to getting lost in the sauce, former Cincinnati Bearcats star cornerback Sauce Gardner already had his first New York Jets moment of epic proportions.

With a 40 percent chance of beginning his NFL life in New Jersey, Gardner wanted to exit stage left on Thursday night. In the first opportunity to go to one of the two struggling New York franchises, Gang Green signed themselves up for some sauce. Gardner may become the next Revis Island, but he was so looking for Ellis Island to cross the Atlantic in the other direction, just to buck the trend.

As long as he does not throw an interception across his body on his first NFL snap, he will be okay.

Lost in the Sauce: Sauce Gardner cannot find the stage after being drafted by Jets

While it is not easy to play professional football for a team like the Jets, a team that has not made the AFC playoffs since he was in elementary school, perhaps Gardner’s experience at Group of Five powerhouse Cincinnati can help him and Gang Green do the impossible? The Jets would later add Garrett Wilson out of Ohio State at No. 10 overall to give themselves a very fine first-round duo.

Ultimately, where you land matters. For Gardner, he will have to be a big reason why the flightless Jets finally get off the ground. While this is not NFL Siberia, as the Jets occasionally make it to the AFC Championship game, they are one of the worst teams in the league. The good news for him is they seem to have made a handful of strong draft picks under the guidance of Joe Douglas of late.

Even if Gardner becomes the next Darrelle Revis, he will always be known for this draft day gaffe.
