Seahawks superfan Rainn Wilson urges Seattle to trade for Baker Mayfield

Rainn Wilson wants his beloved Seattle Seahawks to trade for Baker Mayfield yesterday.

Seattle Seahawks superfan Rainn Wilson seems to be more than willing to push all the Schrute Bucks in the world into the middle of the poker table because he is all-in on Baker Mayfield.

Schrute Bucks may be a fiat currency from an unforgettable 2000s sitcom, but the only thing we can compare it to is Monopoly money. Yes, the actor who played Dwight Schrute in The Office wants Baker Mayfield to be traded from the Cleveland Browns to the NFL franchise he roots for. Seattle will not be a good team anyway, but trading for Mayfield keeps the Seahawks interesting.

“The Seahawks should 100 percent nab Baker Mayfield,” wrote Wilson in a quote tweet of a Yahoo Sports article about Seattle still being interested in acquiring Mayfield. “He’s already been proven EXCELLENT and with some coaching (and some amazing receivers) can reach GREATNESS! Pull the trigger, hawks!”

Seattle currently employs Jacob Eason, Drew Lock and Geno Smith as its three quarterbacks.

Wilson may be a Seattle native who went to undergrad in his hometown at the University of Washington. However, trading for Mayfield only sets the Seahawks further back in their inevitable rebuilding process. Yes, he would be the best quarterback on their roster this fall, but Mayfield will help the Seahawks win too many games to be in position to draft their next franchise cornerstone.

There will be as many as six quarterbacks going in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, possibly as many as four going inside of the top 10. This is assuming Alabama’s Bryce Young and Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud leave school a year early, as well as Kentucky’s Will Levis and Miami’s Tyler Van Dyke play up to everyone’s high expectations of them this year. Seattle cannot miss this thing up.

Along with the Carolina Panthers, Seattle is the other team most closely tied to Mayfield. Frankly, it might actually serve Cleveland to power through the awkwardness and keep Mayfield around, as the Deshaun Watson situation will probably lead to him being suspended for the season. Should Cleveland decide to make another awful decision, trading Mayfield to Seattle is very much in play.

Dealing for Mayfield will not solve all of the Seahawks’ problems, but he does make them better.
