Aaron Rodgers is preaching the power of positivity as the Packers quarterback turned the offense’s struggles in camp into an optimistic outlook.
If you’ve been paying attention to the reports out of Green Bay Packers training camp, you’re well aware that Aaron Rodgers and the offense have been getting dominated pretty much every day that they’ve taken the field for practice. On one hand, that speaks to the quality of a defense that figures to be extremely good this season. On the other, it does raise some concern about a shifting offense that is operating for the first time in a while without Davante Adams.
And while Rodgers isn’t denying that the offense is getting their tails handed to them, he’s also not worried. In fact, he actually sounds optimistic about the offense’s woes to this point.
The reigning back-to-back MVP was honest in speaking to reporters after practice that he was hoping for a stalemate with the defense at best in training camp, but it was what he said after that raised some eyebrows.

Talking with the media, Rodgers spun the struggles of the Packers offense as a positive, noting the merits of the team, particularly the young players, going through adversity, per Packer Central.
“I think it’s important. How we deal with adversity is how we reveal the character of our football team. Especially on offense. We need to take our lumps and figure out what kind of football team we’re going to be. So, I love it. It’s great. It feels good, the defense having that confidence. There’s been some training camps [where] we’ve beat the hell out of them. And it doesn’t do great for their confidence.”
While this is a supreme spin job from Rodgers, there is some truth to what he’s saying.
For starters, the Packers offense has been operating without arguably the two best offensive linemen on the roster, David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins, due to injuries. Thus, this is an opportunity for young guys to get some reps and really start to grow. Moreover, it’s also good for Rodgers to see that a defense that has been problematic at times in recent years playing at this level.
At the same time, though, the offense needs to show progress to get to the point of a stalemate with that defense as we head into the preseason. This is a team that has questions with the roster turnover on that side of the ball and not figuring them out this time of year could be hugely detrimental.
But, if nothing else, at least the quarterback isn’t worried about it.
