Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers

Looks like the Packers broke Justin Fields, and perhaps for the better

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields is not a robot, but the Green Bay Packers broke him.

The Packers defeated the Bears on Sunday Night Football in what’s become a usual occurrence in one of the best rivalries in all of football. Chicago’s football franchise isn’t what it once was.

However, a resurgence could be underway thanks to a young face of the franchise in Fields. For the most part, Fields has always said the right things, dating back to high school, Georgia and then Ohio State. However, after Sunday night’s game, Fields made a misstep, appearing to call out Bears fans.

“Yeah. It hurts more in the locker room than the Bears fans. At the end of the day, they aren’t putting in any work. I see the guys in the locker room every day. I see how much work they put in. Coming out of a disappointing loss like this, it hurts,” Fields said.

Bears: Justin Fields shows personality, makes subtle changes in routine

Early in the week, Fields backtracked off those comments, and admitted he was “angry” after a loss. Fields wanted to show some of his frustration, or his personality if you will.

“There was a thing I said on Sunday after the game where I said the fans don’t put in work. First off, I was frustrated after the game. Number one, I didn’t want to talk to you guys. I wasn’t in the mood to come and talk to you guys. So, I should’ve done a better job of explaining what I meant by that,” Fields explained.

Fields has made casual changes to his weekly routine, per USA Today. This includes a 5:40 a.m. daily wakeup call, which is dedicated to an extra hour of film study.

“I don’t want to be a robot up here so at the same time I just have to be more descriptive of my words and really just describe on what I’m trying to say,” Fields continued.

Robot or not, a tough loss to Green Bay was another lesson in his young career. If it forces him to devote more time to game preparation, perhaps he was broken for the better.
