Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Chiefs-Bucs on SNF has two alternate locations if moved for Hurricane Ian

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are supposed to host the Kansas City Chiefs for the Week 4 matchup, but Hurricane Ian is pushing them elsewhere.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are supposed to host the Kansas City Chiefs this week but Hurricane Ian has other plans. There’s no set location to where they’ll play right now, but it doesn’t seem likely that they’ll stay in Florida.

There are two alternate locations that have become options. The Bucs could be hosting the Chiefs at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana or U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

It seems more likely that the game will be held in Minnesota based on a Tweet from Soren Petro of SportsRadio 810 WHB.

Petro wrote, “Update on Chiefs-Bucs game: NFL is going to wait as long as possible to make a decision… most likely tomorrow. If the game is moved, I’m being told Minneapolis is preparing to host the game.”

The Minnesota Vikings will face the New Orleans Saints in London, so both stadiums will be completely available. Miami seems like it would be the most convenient option to relocate, but the NFL was reportedly unlikely to use Miami as the new site despite the Dolphins not using the stadium on Sunday.

Miami was seemingly never an option for the Bucs-Chiefs

According to Jeff Darlington of ESPN, the NFL was unlikely to use Miami as the new game site, even though it would be available.

Darlington wrote, “Thread: If the Bucs are unable to host the Chiefs on Sunday due to the impact of Hurricane Ian, the NFL is unlikely to use Miami as the new game site even though Dolphins aren’t using the stadium, per league sources. The Bucs would instead be on the move again…”

This is reportedly because the league wanted to use a neutral spot not impacted by the hurricane. After all, they don’t want to risk using state resources to host a game in Miami when they could be assisting Tampa Bay instead.

The reasoning makes sense, and though it may be a hassle to host a game in another state on another field, it’ll definitely make for a memorable game.
