Packers fans literally Jumped Around just as Paul Chryst was fired by Wisconsin (Video)

The only solution Green Bay Packers fans had to Paul Chryst getting fired at Wisconsin was to Jump Around.

The cheese curds weren’t even cold yet, as Green Bay Packers fans Jumped Around on Paul Chryst’s Wisconsin grave at Lambeau Field.

The former Badgers quarterback was ousted at his alma mater on Sunday evening. News of this broke right around the time Green Bay was battling the New England Patriots at home in the late afternoon window on CBS. If Jim Nantz and Tony Romo were putting you to sleep, Chryst being whacked at Wisconsin, paired with Packers fans rocking out to Jump Around totally woke you up.

Defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard will take over in the interim for Chryst, and will probably get the gig full-time … well … because he is good at his job and he played there.

Getting blown out on Saturday vs. former Badgers head coach Bret Bielema’s Illinois Fighting Illini was a great way for Chryst to lose his job. He may get another gig, as he had success early in his Wisconsin career and briefly at Pitt before that. However, getting fired at one’s alma mater cuts deeply in a way few can truly describe. It will be Leonhard’s opportunity to prove he is their guy.

Under Chryst, Wisconsin was a perennial Big Ten West contender. The Badgers had a strong ground game throughout, as well as an opportunistic defense. However, the quarterback play never was a reason the Badgers won games. With the rest of the Big Ten West getting better over the last few years, those easy wins in division became harder to come by and, well, this happened.

Because Wisconsin is the only Power Five program in the state and the Packers are the biggest ticket in America’s Dairyland, the timing of this was just so beyond surreal. Could you imagine if something bad happened to the Milwaukee Bucks at this time or the Milwaukee Brewers were eliminated from the NL Wild Card race? Well, we got the strangest timing possible at Lambeau.

Hopefully, Leonhard can get Wisconsin back to its winning ways and start to play some good ball.
