The Green Bay Packers enter Week 12 sitting at 4-7, and an unlikely longshot to make the NFL Playoffs. Despite their preseason status as NFC North favorites, it’s time for the Packers to start looking towards next year. Here’s a Packers Mock Draft roundup.
Next offseason will be an important one for Green Bay, as they must choose a direction at quarterback. Will Aaron Rodgers be around? And if so, do they want to delay the inevitable takeover of Jordan Love for another season after what they just witnessed?
These questions will be answered, but it’s unlikely the NFL Draft will play much of a role. The Packers already have their first-round quarterback in Love, and they’ve been grooming him for quite some time.
With that said, Green Bay could acquire another target for whoever the QB is. That’s the focus of most NFL Mock Drafts at the moment.
Packers Mock Draft roundup: Wide receiver
The majority of NFL Mock Drafts have the Packers selecting a weapon, either on the outside or at tight end. We’ll outline each of them here.
247Sports mocked Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt to Green Bay over the weekend. While he was held in check by the South Carolina Gamecocks, he’s proven to be a difference-maker on the outside for UT and Hendon Hooker.
Sports Illustrated mocked Southern California wide receiver Jordan Addison to the Packers. Addison, previously at Pitt, won the Biletnikoff award last season as the best wide receiver in the country. While he doesn’t possess elite size, he has a knack for getting open in tight spaces. He’s also played with two pro-caliber quarterbacks in Kenny Pickett and Caleb Williams, which should only help his case.
Packers Mock Draft roundup: Tight end
Pro Football Network has Green Bay filling a separate need at tight end. In this year’s draft class, there are two elite receiving tight ends which many experts expect to go early. The Packers could nab one in Notre Dame’s Michael Mayer, who “brings a great blend of run blocking with pass catching.”
Should the Packers miss out on Mayer, perhaps they could take the second-best tight end in this class, Georgia target Darnell Washington. CBS Sports mocks Washington to Green Bay, who they expect to make a lot of noise come the NFL Combine.
The theme is consistent — more targets for Rodgers or Love. Will Green Bay finally deliver?
