Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Cowboys have to overcome ridiculous Tom Brady stat in playoff matchup

The Dallas Cowboys already have a tough test when they face Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, who has the team’s number.

The Dallas Cowboys clinched the No. 5 seed in the playoffs after they lost to the Washington Commanders in Week 18 and the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New York Giants. With that, Dallas is set to take on the No. 4 seed, the NFC South champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In that season finale against the Commanders, the Cowboys didn’t exactly impress, and now they have to face Tom Brady in the playoffs.

While postseason Brady is on a whole other level, as his 35-12 playoff record shows, he has performed very well against the Cowboys throughout his career.

As if Dallas fans weren’t already nervous, they are about to learn that Brady is a perfect 7-0 against them throughout his career.

The Cowboys have never beaten Tom Brady in his career

Besides the wins, how did Brady perform in those games? Well, he threw for 1,945 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 61.1 percent of his passes.

For those curious, Brady is undefeated against three other teams in his career — the Minnesota Vikings (6-0), Buccaneers (4-0) and New England Patriots (1-0).

The most recent game Dallas faced Brady was in the 2022 season opener. The Cowboys weren’t able to do much against Tampa Bay’s defense and watched as quarterback Dak Prescott broke his right thumb late in the game. The Buccaneers won 19-3.

Tampa Bay had far from an impressive 2022 season, as they finished with an 8-9 record. But when facing NFC South rivals, the Buccaneers were 4-2 on the year, including a Week 17 win over the Carolina Panthers that helped them clinch the division.

This season, Brady threw for 4,694 yards, 25 touchdowns, and nine interceptions while completing 66.8 percent of his passes. In fact, Brady led the league in pass completions (490) and pass attempts (733).

Despite the Buccaneers’ woes, Brady flips the switch come playoff time. The Cowboys will need to play a great game on both sides of the line of scrimmage and will need Prescott to not turn the football over. But, as this statistic shows, history isn’t on the Cowboys’ side when they face Brady.
