Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants

Odell Beckham Jr.’s rooting interests this postseason don’t bode well for Cowboys

If the Dallas Cowboys do want to sign Odell Beckham Jr., he appears to have one foot in the New York Giants camp.

Odell Beckham Jr. was rooting hard for some of his former teammates on Sunday afternoon, even tweeting out congratulations to Saquon Barkley after the game.

Beckham Jr. has not kept his cards close to his vest this season, and even posted on social media in the middle of his free-agency chase. The Giants and rival Dallas Cowboys were among the teams previously interested in OBJ, but unfortunately his recovery from injury kept him from contributing this season or in the playoffs.

Beckham Jr. is expected to headline a thin group of free-agent wide receivers in the 2023 class. He’ll receive the contract he’s looking for, if only because there aren’t many good alternatives, assuming his physical checks out.

Odell Beckham Jr. openly rooted for Giants: What it means for Cowboys

Odell Beckham Jr. does have former teammates in New York, so it’s not a complete surprise he was rooting for them to succeed over the likes of the Minnesota Vikings. Expect OBJ to still do his due diligence as it pertains to his offseason interests, but the Giants should be right in the thick of it once again.

A New York return was always on the table for OBJ. They’re a team which knows him well, and he hasn’t quite looked the same since leaving the Giants facility.

For Dallas, should they still want to sign Beckham Jr. this offseason, it means they have some catching up to do.

When looking at OBJ’s prospects, it made since that Dallas wanted a wide receiver upgrade in the middle of the season were it available to them. But in the offseason? The Cowboys already feature the likes of CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup. Who knows what they’ll pursue in the NFL Draft?

There are multiple avenues to take, and Beckham Jr. is not the only one.
