New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles

James Bradberry painfully reminding Giants what they’re missing

Eagles cornerback James Bradberry was cut by the Giants. His performance in the NFC Divisional Round was all about showing them what they’re missing.

Saturday’s matchup between the Eagles and Giants was personal for cornerback James Bradberry.

A year ago he was a member of New York’s defense. Now he’s making plays for Philadelphia against them.

Bradberry had himself a revenge game, epitomized by his interception of Daniel Jones in the first quarter.

After making the catch, he stood up and bowed toward the Giants’ sideline.

James Bradberry made the Giants look silly for cutting him.

In the first three quarters, Bradberry had two tackles, two pass deflections and an interception. He looked more than worth the money Philadelphia is paying him. Eagles fans can thank the Giants for cutting the cornerback after the 2022 season in a bid to save cap space.

Bradberry was a Pro Bowler in his first season with New York in 2020 after a four-year stint with the Panthers. He followed that season up with four interceptions in 2021. However, his performance clearly didn’t make him uncuttable.

Philadelphia picked him up in the offseason and the fit couldn’t have been better. He caught three interceptions in the regular season, returning one for a touchdown, and made the AP’s All-Pro second team. Now he’s tearing it up in the postseason.

Bradberry’s interception helped the Eagles build an insurmountable lead over the Giants. Dallas Goedert and DeVonta Smith had already caught touchdown passes putting Philadelphia up 14-0 when Bradberry swiftly ended New York’s next possession on its second play.

Philadelphia led 28-0 before the Giants managed to score their first points of the game in the third quarter. Fans had more time to spend savaging an OBJ tweet than worrying over the outcome of the game.

Bradberry and the Eagles swept New York in their regular season meetings. Victory in the NFC Divisional Round means a perfect 3-0 record for the corner against his former team.
