For those who tuned into Tom Brady’s “Let’s Go Podcast” hoping for an answer on if he’ll continue playing, he didn’t give much information.
Tom Brady’s 23rd season in the NFL ended in less than ideal fashion for the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback. His Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who went 8-9 on the season yet still won the NFC South title, lost 31-14 to the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round. With the Buccaneers’ season over, Brady will enter free agency once again. Now, the NFL world is speculating whether he will return to the Buccaneers, play for another team, or retire for the second time.
During his latest “Let’s Go Podcast,” co-host Jim Gray asked Brady if he had a timetable for when he will make a decision regarding his playing career. Let’s just say that Brady gave an emphatic no as his answer.
“Jim, if I knew what I was going to f***ing do, I’d have already f***ing done it,” Brady told Gray. “I’m taking it a day at a time.”

Brady did have a laugh when Gray said that he sensed the quarterback didn’t like the question. But no, Brady doesn’t have an exact timeline for when he’ll make a decision.
NFL Network national insider Ian Rapoport reported that Buccaneers players who interacted with Brady after their season felt as though he was not going to return to the team.
Last year, Brady threw for 5,316 yards and 43 touchdowns on 485 completions and 719 pass attempts, all of which were season-highs. Brady orchestrated a comeback against the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round, but they ended up on the losing end after a deep pass from Matthew Stafford to Cooper Kupp and a game-winning field goal at the buzzer by Matt Gay. Brady announced his retirement from the NFL shortly after this game. Then, less than a month later, Brady decided he would return to the Buccaneers for another season.
This past season, Brady dealt with injuries on his offensive line and a lackluster rushing attack. Despite that, he threw for 4,694 yards and 25 touchdowns, while completing 66.8-percent of his passes.
There are plenty of quarterback-needy teams this offseason, and even though Brady will be 46-years-old by the time the 2023 regular-season starts, he has the championship pedigree. If a team has a championship caliber roster, they could very well consider giving him a shot taking into consideration the issues the Buccaneers offense dealt with. But, that’s all up to what Brady wants to do.
