Micah Parsons clarifies Tweet perceived as shot at Dak Prescott

Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons made it clear that a Tweet perceived by some as a shot at Dak Prescott was not intended in that way.

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons Tweeted something earlier this week that many perceived to be a subtle shot at his team’s quarterback, Dak Prescott.

Now, from the jump, our own Mark Powell pointed out that while the Tweet was perceived by some as a shot at Dak, it was more of a call-out of the system than anything else. Parsons himself has stepped in and made it clear that his Tweet was not meant to be a shot at Dak.

Micah Parsons not right about the flaws in NFL roster building

Parsons is right, there’s a very clear catch-22 teams with star quarterbacks get themselves in. So much money committed to such a small part of the roster leaves little financial flexibility to add talent in other important places. So you have a star QB but no room to build the roster around him to go after the ultimate goal of a Super Bowl.

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will likely be up against it with his $60 million guaranteed next year. They’ll need to restructure that deal to create the space to make moves to add needed receiving help.

Quarterbacks are important, but what we’re seeing based on the final four teams remaining this year — the Chiefs, Bengals, Eagles, and 49ers — is that financial nimbleness is huge. Having the resources to create a balanced, talented team around a great quarterback is an advantage.

The Chiefs are the only team who has, based on how far they’ve gotten this year, figured out how to build around a massive contract. Even still, Mahomes’ contract is rare in length, and he continually proves he can create wins and production out of nothing. Even without Tyreek Hill this year, he’s been phenomenal.

It reinforces two ideas:

  • Spending smart is oftentimes better than spending big.
  • Drafting is important and perhaps the easiest way to get talent at an affordable rate.

While Parsons’ Tweet looked like a possible fracture in the Cowboys’ culture, it seems as though all is good based on Parsons’ follow-up.
