Which NFL teams have the most salary cap space in 2023?

Spotrac co-founder Michael Ginnitti listed the top five teams with the most money to spend entering the 2023 league year.

  1. Chicago Bears, $98 million
  2. Atlanta Falcons, $56 million
  3. Cincinnati Bengals, $44.5 million
  4. New York Giants, $44.4 million
  5. New England Patriots, $38 million

The Chicago Bears lead the way with $98 million, followed by the Atlanta Falcons, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants, and New England Patriots.

The Bears will have a lot of money to work with this offseason. They can help improve the defense that surrendered the most points per game in the NFL (27.2). That, and they can provide quarterback Justin Fields with pass-catching options. Oh, and they hold the first-overall pick in the NFL Draft, which can be flipped for more capital. All in all, it’s a big offseason for the Bears and general manager Ryan Poles.

As for the Falcons, they have $56 million in cap space. Will they make a push for a quarterback this offseason?

The Bengals will have $44.5 million to try and build the roster enough to make a return trip to the AFC Championship Game and make it to the Super Bowl. This offseason, the Bengals are reportedly planning on signing quarterback Joe Burrow to a contract extension.

After having no cap space to work with last offseason, Giants general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll can continue to build their version of the team. However, they will have to re-sign quarterback Daniel Jones, who is a free agent and won’t come cheap. But, let’s see what Schoen can do with $44.4 million to work with.

The Patriots are overhauling their offensive coaching staff, bringing back Bill O’Brien. They may need to do so at offensive tackle and wide receiver, where there are multiple players on the roster in 2022 expected to hit free agency.

There you have it. These are the top five teams that have the most cap space entering the 2023 league year, where they could make some noise.
