The latest NFL rumors involve a DeAndre Hopkins sighting in Dallas and the Bills and Eagles potentially losing some big stars this free agency.

All anybody can talk about right now is Aaron Rodgers getting traded to the New York Jets. The NFL community will surely go berserk if and when that happens, yet there are also rumblings around the league concerning other star players. Rodgers isn’t the center of the universe even if he thinks he is.

First, to recap what went down at the franchise tag deadline on Tuesday: Lamar Jackson got a non-exclusive franchise tag, the New York Giants extended Daniel Jones and tagged Saquon Barkley, and….oh, yeah, Tom Brady isn’t going anywhere. He adopted a kitten and seems very happy in retirement.

As the league gears up for an eventful free agency, plenty of offensive and defensive stars could find new homes come the 2023 season.

Let’s take a look at three of the biggest NFL rumors right now.

NFL Rumors: Eagles set to part ways with C.J. Gardner Johnson in 2023

It was always going to impossible for the Philadelphia Eagles to keep their defensive unit intact, what with all the players playing on expired contracts. There were rumors that the team would place the franchise tag on C.J. Gardner-Johnson, but the deadline has come and gone.

The former Saints defensive back landed in Philly and had one of the best years of his career, leading the NFL with six interceptions despite missing time.

Gardner-Johnson would likely join other impending free agents James Bradberry and Javon Hargrave as cap casualties, and he leaves the Eagles on a bittersweet note. The once-notorious trash talker showed Philly nothing but love in an emotional goodbye message:

Leave it to Howie Roseman to make key decisions to keep the Eagles franchise sustainable for years to come.

Assuming Gardner-Johnson, Bradberry, and Hargrave are all on their way out, Philly can turn their attention to extension priorities like Brandon Graham, Marcus Epps, and Boston Scott, among others.

At least Gardner-Johnson played well enough in 2022 to hopefully earn a lucrative contract elsewhere.
