After a lifetime in Florida, former Jacksonville Jaguars tackle Jawaan Taylor is trading in his chlorine-soaked jean shorts for heaping helpings of barbecue with the Kansas City Chiefs. Taylor could potentially play left tackle.
Andy Reid once said he’s never had more barbecue in his life since moving to Kansas City a decade ago. Although my stomach can’t handle brisket anymore (Buhler in shambles), I guess it’s the price to win every day and twice on Sundays. Taylor leaves his home state for the winning ways of the midwest. He is inking a four-year deal worth $80 million, $60 million guaranteed to go eat KC BBQ.
This is a great move for them because it fortifies their offensive line and makes the Jaguars worse.
Maybe Taylor can win his first Super Bowl by helping Reid, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce win their third together?

Look. We have to give Taylor some major credit for making a big move like this. He hails from Cocoa Beach and played his college ball at Florida. He was drafted by the Jaguars, so Floridian football is all he knows. He was born in the black and teal. For now, Taylor makes a smart career choice to hitch his wagon to the wonderful world of Chiefs Kingdom and all that comes with it.
No team has repeated as Super Bowl champions since the 2003-04 New England Patriots pulled it off. Tom Brady was not even The GOAT back then, he was merely seen as a glorified game manager no better than A.J. McCarron, to be honest. My, oh my, oh my, how things have changed… Either way, Taylor’s national profile goes up considerably by switching AFC allegiances this winter.
Ultimately, the less we hear about him going forward the better. That’s because if Taylor is as talked about as Kelce, Mahomes or Reid, then the Chiefs have a huge problem on their hands. Brett Veach did not pay him out the wazoo to be an eight-figured turnstile. No, that’s not going to happen, but you better believe the pressure is on Taylor to take his game to an even higher level.
