NFL rumors: Browns working on another big wide receiver trade

The Cleveland Browns traded for Amari Cooper last offseason and, despite not having a first-round pick in 2023, they’re itching to make another WR trade.

There’s no question that the biggest blockbuster trade that the Cleveland Browns made last offseason was making the much-maligned deal for quarterback Deshaun Watson. However, the franchise also got their new signal-caller a weapon via trade as well, dealing for Amari Cooper from the Dallas Cowboys.

Of course, the Browns offense left a lot to be desired in the 2022 campaign, even once Watson took the field late in the year after serving a suspension for his alleged off-field transgressions. And now Cleveland appears interested in trading for another wide receiver to pair with Cooper.

Denver Broncos insider Benjamin Allbright reported on Tuesday that Cleveland is one of the teams that has remained notably interested and engaged in discussions about a trade for wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, a 2020 first-round pick.

NFL rumors: Browns in on Jerry Jeudy trade despite not having first-round pick

Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com noted as well on Tuesday that the team doesn’t have a first-round pick but remains interested in trying to find a deal with the Broncos that will meet their asking price.

Recent reports have suggested that the Broncos asking price for Jerry Jeudy in a trade would be a first-round pick OR a second-round pick and a player of value. Obviously, Cleveland would have to be shopping in the latter market given that their first-rounder belongs to Houston by way of the Watson trade.

In any case, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Browns move forward and eventually work out a deal. The wide receiver room is thin and/or unproven outside of Cooper and the organization is clearly all-in on Watson and building around the quarterback.

Needless to say, this could be the most likely landing spot to watch for a Jeudy trade.
