Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Chargers, NFL Rumors

ESPN analyst suggests wild DeAndre Hopkins trade partner

ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky gave his prediction as to which team should make a run at Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

Trade talk has dominated the NFL offseason, especially when it comes to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, as the league awaits to see if he will actually get traded to the New York Jets. Another player that has been on the trading block is none other than wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, as teams reportedly received permission to speak with him and his agents by the Arizona Cardinals. So, the question that remains is which team will add him to their roster for the 2023 season?

During the Apr. 5 episode of “NFL on ESPN,” the analysts were asked which they think should make a run at Hopkins. Dan Orlovsky, former NFL quarterback, believes that this NFL team with a pretty stacked top of the wide receiver depth chart should add him.

That team: The Los Angeles Chargers.

ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky believes Chargers should trade for DeAndre Hopkins

Quarterback Justin Herbert having Hopkins, Keenan Allen, and Mike Williams to target downfield? That would be quite the top three at the position, and it would certainly help them contend in what is a tough AFC. Not to mention, as they try to take the AFC West crown from the rival Kansas City Chiefs, which they haven’t done for the past seven seasons.

This past season, the Chargers recorded an average of 281.8 receiving yards per game, which was the fourth-highest in the entire league.

The thing with Hopkins is that he has dealt with injuries over the past couple of years. In 2021, he missed seven games due to a hamstring strain and a torn MCL. Last season, he missed Arizona’s last two games due to a knee strain, paired along with missing the first six games due to suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy.

In 2021, Hopkins caught 42-of-64 pass attempts for 572 yards and eight touchdowns. This past season, Hopkins recorded 64 receptions for 717 yards and three touchdowns on 96 targets.

The Chargers would be quite the landing spot for Hopkins. But, it’s just a prediction from Orlovsky.
