Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown let it be known on Twitter that there is room on the team for Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry.
The Philadelphia Eagles are no strangers to making big moves in recent years. Let’s not forget that at last year’s NFL Draft, they acquired wide receiver A.J. Brown from the Tennessee Titans and signed him to a four-year, $100 million contract extension.
Brown was a gigantic difference maker, as he helped take the offense to the next level, as evidenced throughout the season and in Super Bowl 57 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Could another big move be on the way for the Eagles?
NFL Network analyst Akbar Gbaja-Biamila tweeted on early Saturday morning “Breaking: move out of the way, Derrick Henry is headed to the Eagles.” Now, the NFL world is waiting to see if this will legitimately happen, especially with the NFL Draft taking place from Apr. 27-29.
Brown jumped into the conversation, saying that no one on the Eagles right now holds the No. 22, so he sent out a message to the Eagles — “make it happen if it’s possible.”

Brown is all on board with the Eagles bringing in his former teammate in Henry, but only if it’s possible.
The Eagles just so happen to be in the market for a running back this offseason, as the starter last year, Miles Sanders, signed a four-year, $25.4 million contract with the Carolina Panthers. Philadelphia does hold two first-round picks in 2023 (No. 10 and 31 overall), and they could use one of them on a running back like Bijan Robinson out of Texas or Jahmyr Gibbs out of Alabama. But, adding Henry would really make the Eagles a juggernaut on offense.
Defenses have already had difficulty stopping Jalen Hurts’ “tush push” run play. Now imagine them trying to stop Henry as well. Have fun with that.
In 16 games this past season, Henry ran for 1,538 yards and 13 touchdowns on a league-high 349 carries.
The Titans under new general manager Ran Carthon has already made some moves to free up cap space and re-tool the team in his image. But is trading Henry part of his re-tooling plans? If they were to do so, they would free up $6.3 million in cap space prior to June 1, and $11 million afterwards.
Eagles fans, meanwhile, will be wondering who will be their lead back entering the 2023 season, in hopes that the team can get the job done and win their second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.
