The Dallas Cowboys had a late playoff run last season. With playoff aspirations for 2019 as well, which five players need to be great for that to happen?
The Dallas Cowboys had double-digit wins for the second time in three years after going 10-6 in 2018. Although, Jason Garrett looked to be on his way out of town after the team began the season 3-5.
After a Week 9 loss to the offensively challenged Tennessee Titans, the Cowboys looked dead in the water. But the Washington Redskins were dealt a season-changing injury when Alex Smith went down, the Philadelphia Eagles struggled for consistency and the New York Giants limped to the finish line.
All of that, and going 7-1 during the final eight weeks of the season, allowed the Cowboys to jump back into the race and take the division title. Led by a stout defense, strong play from Dak Prescott and a ground and pound attack, the Cowboys made some noise.
A divisional playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams ended the Cowboys season in January. Garrett survived another season in which it looked like he was gone, Prescott took another step, and the team’s defense proved to be elite.
Per usual, it’s Super Bowl or bust down in Dallas, and these are the five players that need to be great for that to happen in 2019.
