After an uneven rookie campaign, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson came out firing with five touchdowns against the Miami Dolphins.
Welcome back to NFL quarterback rankings, where I attempt to gauge how the men under center are playing throughout the season. As the campaign wears on, the rankings will reflect how the quarterbacks are playing, while only slightly taking into account their past performance.
For this week, past history weighs in more heavily, considering one week is such a small sample. Enjoy, and feel free to torch my mentions on Twitter (@mattverderame).
32. Ryan Fitzpatrick
Fitzpatrick was terrible along with the other 52 Dolphins on Sunday. He shouldn’t be starting. Josh Rosen should be. Of anybody starting, Fitzpatrick makes the least sense.
31. Eli Manning
Manning threw for more than 300 yards, but most of it came in garbage time. The Giants are eventually going to turn the reigns over to Daniel Jones. Should be soon.
30. Gardner Minshew
Minshew actually played very well in relief against the Chiefs, hitting on 22-of-25 passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. If the sixth-round rookie keeps playing like that, he’ll move up.
