Chicago Bears fans will surely be fuming when they find out Nick Foles openly accused Matt Nagy of calling plays that won’t work.
While the Chicago Bears entered their Monday Night Football showdown with the Los Angeles Rams holding a 5-1 record, the morale surrounding the team surely hasn’t been high throughout the season. With question marks at quarterback and Allen Robinson not happy with his contract, there’s been plenty of drama in The Windy City.
Well, you can go ahead and add a new piece to the unfortunate puzzle. In the middle of the Monday Night Football loss to the Rams, it was revealed that Nick Foles had actually called out head coach Matt Nagy for sending in plays that he strongly believed wouldn’t work. What in the world?
Some more drama has arrived for the Chicago Bears thanks to Nick Foles’ latest comments
Brian Griese mentioned on the Monday Night broadcast that Foles had told him that Nagy doesn’t know how much time he really has to operate with, which is why some of the calls he sends in are ones that Foles knows won’t work. Nagy must have been incredibly frustrated when he heard about what his new starting quarterback had to say.
Foles started the season as the No. 2 signal-caller behind Mitchell Trubisky, but the former North Carolina star’s struggles continued, opening the door for Foles to take over running the offense for Nagy. While Foles has looked strong at times, he’s also had some big-time struggles himself.
Now, we know that part of the reason Foles hasn’t played at a high level consistently could be because he’s not getting the kind of plays he likes from his head coach. Regardless, the fact that Foles even aired out his issues with Nagy publicly is something no one saw coming. We’ll see how this all plays out.
