The sports world makes for a beautiful palette but individual images can get lost in the constant shuffle. Here are the best Getty Images sports photos from this week.
Tiger Woods of the United States putts on the 12th green during the first round of the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club on Nov. 12, 2020, in Augusta, Georgia.
There is no place like Augusta National each year for The Masters tournament. This event is truly a team effort and typically very challenging to photograph with the number of fans and access inside the ropes. However, due to COVID, the tournament has kicked off several months later and fans aren’t allowed on the hallowed grounds. Aside from the fans, the fall foliage has been a real playground for our pupils — and this view of Tiger Woods on the iconic 12th hole showcases that perfectly.

Chase Elliott, driver of the No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet celebrates in victory lane after winning the NASCAR Cup Series Season Finale 500 and the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway on Nov. 8, 2020, in Avondale, Arizona.
This year has been unlike any other due to COVID restrictions and schedule changes. NASCAR was able to complete their entire schedule and for the first time the final race took place at Phoenix Raceway. The top four competitors battled it out for the Bill France trophy in the NASCAR Cup Series Season Finale 500. Fan-favorite Chase Elliott captured the checkered flag, winning his first ever NASCAR Cup Series championship. The title puts Elliott and his NASCAR Hall of Famer father, Bill Elliott, as one of three father/son champions in the history of the sport. This photo will forever remind me of one unusual season that ended on a very high note for the sport.

Eric Ebron of the Pittsburgh Steelers leaps over Saivion Smith of the Dallas Cowboys during the second half at AT&T Stadium on Nov. 8, 2020, in Arlington, Texas.
This play developed very fast and luckily enough I was in the right position to capture Eric Ebron of the Pittsburgh Steelers mid-air. I knew that the Steelers could go ahead with a touchdown and had a 50/50 chance that I’d be in the right corner of the endzone. It was a quick throw to Ebron who made the catch and more importantly a massive leap over Saivion Smith of the Dallas Cowboys into the endzone to save the undefeated season for Pittsburgh.

Jamison Crowder of the New York Jets scores a touchdown as Jason McCourty of the New England Patriots defends during the first half at MetLife Stadium on Nov. 9, 2020, in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
I was late to this play — I was running to get into position just as the ball was snapped. I saw New York Jets quarterback Joe Flacco’s pass fly toward the endzone as I was making my way down the stairs to a better shooting position. A flash of panic ran through my head as I scrambled quickly to get this shot. This picture was taken right after Jamison Crowder of the Jets caught the ball as he fell out of the endzone. The catch was initially ruled incomplete as it appeared he was out of bounds, but after a challenge by the Jets, the call was overturned and ruled a touchdown.
