From one superstar to another, Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes tips his hat to Dustin Johnson.
Already a weird year, the 2020 Masters Tournament took place in Augusta, Ga. this week to determine who would win the coveted green jacket. By a landslide, Dustin Johnson capitalized on the week and cemented his status as one of the game’s best, picking up the victory Sunday morning.
While NFL games continue to pile on throughout the afternoon, the Kansas City Chiefs remain at home, resting up on the Week 10 bye. So as some were in the middle of suiting up or making a tackle, Patrick Mahomes was sitting at home, watching another standout athlete claim history for the first time in his career.
Needless to say, the Super Bowl LIV MVP took to Twitter to congratulate Johnson on a job well done.
Are Dustin Johnson and Patrick Mahomes the best in the game?
Johnson captured his second major title and 24th PGA TOUR win in stellar fashion to close out the day. After becoming just the third golfer in club history to shoot for under 18, Johnson set a new record at -20, grabbing a birdie on the sixth and pulling away on the back nine.
Much like Mahomes in football, some consider Johnson the world’s top golfer entering 2020. Both power their ways to victory, capitalizing under pressure and staying strong in the face of adversity. Although perhaps some never imagined them becoming the superstars they are now, it’s hard to picture a world where they aren’t the face of their sport.
Johnson earned his title this week, proving his swing was accurate as ever. Mahomes is hoping to stay the course and lead Kansas City back to the Super Bowl down in Tampa come February of 2021. Whenever the offseason comes for these two, could the world be blessed to watch them play a round of 18?
More importantly, could fans be blessed to watch it televised? Congratulations Dustin on winning your first Masters. Wear that green jacket proudly.
