The Chicago Bears comeback attempt ended in disaster, with Nick Foles getting carted off
Foles was slammed to the turf by the Minnesota Vikings defense, and he landed hard on his right side. It’s unclear exactly what Foles injured on the play, but the initial thought that he was merely shaken up was gone when the cart came out for him.
While it was a rough game for Foles and the Bears offense, he’s clearly Chicago’s best option at the position. Tyler Bray came in to finish the game for the Bears.
If Foles isn’t available long-term for any reason, the Bears will turn to Trubisky
It’s been a really tough stretch for the Bears, who have now lost four games in a row to fall to 5-5 on the season after an exciting 5-1 start. Though the NFC’s expanded playoff picture gives the Bears every chance at making the postseason, if they don’t shape up soon they’ll dig themselves a hole.
Foles wasn’t the victim of a dirty play by any means, as the Vikings were well within their right to bull rush the Bears in the closing minute. However, with Foles landing in a heap on his right side, there’s no telling exactly how severe his injury might be.
Since taking the Eagles to the Super Bowl in relief of Carson Wentz, Foles has bounced around the league, struggling to find a role form himself. In Jacksonville and Chicago, he hasn’t proven himself as a legitimate starter, though hopes Matt Nagy’s faith in him would pay off in a late-season run in the Windy Season. Let’s hope that wasn’t taken from him on Monday night at Soldier Field.
We’ll have more updates when they become available.
