Taysom Hill could be an exceptionally, sneaky-good fantasy play at tight end in some leagues.
Believe it not, New Orleans Saints third-string quarterback Taysom Hill is tight-end eligible in some fantasy football leagues. It may not be in the particular format you play, but yes, he is eligible to play that position in some leagues. With Drew Brees being out for the foreseeable future with fractured ribs, this fantasy loophole involving Hill might be worth exploiting.
Andy Holloway and Mike Wright of The Fantasy Footballers got especially giddy thinking about the possibilities of starting Hill at tight end or at the flex in some leagues. The idea behind even considering this is he might get even more run with Brees being out and Jameis Winston serving as the backup. Hill has already had multiple 10-point weeks as a glorified gadget player this year.

Essentially, if you do not have a bona-fide, tier 1 tight end the likes of Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs who routinely puts up WR1 numbers at his position, you might find yourself in a situation where you go high-risk, high-reward and start Hill as your tight end in the hopes he might be able to get you 10 points in a given week. It is still risky, but not as much as before.
The high-risk, high-reward maneuver just got a lot less risky.
Whether Hill puts up fantasy points on the ground, through the air or as a receiver, they all count towards helping you win your fantasy matchup. Simply put, because he is Sean Payton‘s favorite player to ever walk the face of the earth, Hill will suit up for the Saints and will be involved in the offense in some capacity. If Winston struggles, guess who gets to take the ball from under center?
Add in the extra little wrinkle the Saints welcome their biggest rival to town on Sunday afternoon in the Atlanta Falcons and Hill may be even more involved with the offensive game plan, you know, for Payton to be extremely petty towards the Dirty Birds. So if you do not have a tight end you are particularly proud of on your roster, maybe give tight-end eligible Hill a whirl on Sunday?
Of course, you are going to have to give up a roster spot to land this former BYU quarterback on your fantasy team. For the next few weeks, it may be a good idea to stream Hill and see if he can come up big for you at the tight end position. The Saints have the lowly Denver Broncos next week and then face the Falcons in Atlanta in Week 13. This would be the time to see what Hill can do.
