During the huge NFC West showdown on Thursday night between the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks, both Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray can help their MVP chances.
The stage is set at CenturyLink Field, as the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals will be ready for battle on Thursday night. While this matchup will have major NFC West implications, there’s also one other thing to pay attention to: the MVP race.
Both Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray are in the hunt to take home the honors, with the two quarterbacks having a big opportunity to separate themselves from one another with a win in Week 11. So, which player will end up coming out on top?
Both Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray are no doubt worthy of MVP consideration
Leading up to Thursday’s tilt, both Wilson and Murray have most certainly earned to be in the MVP consideration because of their strong play.
With Wilson, he helped Seattle get off to a 5-0 start, and has had them looking like serious contenders to win the Super Bowl at times this season. On the year, the veteran signal-caller has thrown for 2,789 yards and 28 touchdowns, which ranks second and first in the NFL, respectively.
As for Murray, he’s been exceptional this year with both his strong right arm and his brilliant wheels. Entering Week 11, Murray has thrown for 2,375 yards and 17 touchdowns, while adding 604 rushing yards and 10 more scores. He’s on pace to become the first player in NFL history to top 4,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards, which is simply unreal.
With all of that being said, Murray appears to have the slight advantage over Wilson right now. That’s because Wilson and the Seahawks have lost three of their last four games, with Wilson turning the ball over a discouraging 10 times in that span. The Cardinals have been the opposite, winning three of their last four showdowns.
On Thursday, Murray can take a giant step in trying to catch Patrick Mahomes in the MVP race if he can lead Arizona to a victory in Seattle. Should that happen and Wilson once again struggles, we may have to eliminate him from the conversational all together. Murray is the pick between the two right now, and a road upset against Wilson will only extend his lead.
