At least Amari Cooper is still special for the Dallas Cowboys offense.
After yet another loss on Tuesday night, the Dallas Cowboys 2020 season hasn’t gone as planned. The defense is struggling to make stops, quarterback play is horrendous and the once expected superstar of the NFC East sits in dead-last at 3-9.
Still, at least the team has Amari Cooper to make things exciting at the low cost of $100 million over the next five seasons.
During the fourth quarter against the Baltimore Ravens, Andy Dalton found Cooper for a 2-yard touchdown to put the Cowboys down by 10. That’s all fine and dandy, but watch Cooper run the route. Not only does he make Marcus Peters lose him at the line of scrimmage, but the cameraman couldn’t keep up either.
To add insult to injury, the extended hand-grab from the former Crimson Tide star only made this catch worthy of a poster or fathead for a child’s room or epic sports’ den in someone’s house.
Amari Cooper still thriving in a lost season
The Cowboys drafted Oklahoma product CeeDee Lamb after agreeing to a massive deal with Cooper in the 2020 offseason. Thinking those two — along with third-year product Michale Gallup — could become the league’s best receiving corp went out the window when Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending injury in Week 5.
Cooper still is finding success with the likes of Dalton, AAF legend Garrett Gilbert and Ben DiNucci. For the season, he’s mangled to haul in 71 catches for 848 yards and three touchdowns.
And sure, his trips to the end zone are limited, but what else would you expect from the team that’s struggling to decide what they will do under center after a wild and wacky season at “The Star” overall?
For the night, Cooper tallied five catches for 43 yards and the score.
