The Pittsburgh Steelers cut their deficit to the Buffalo Bills on JuJu Smith-Schuster’s touchdown reception.
The Week 14 edition of “Sunday Night Football” was in the Pittsburgh Steelers favor throughout the first half. But the momentum switched to the Buffalo Bills’ favor following cornerback Taron Johnson’s pick-six just before halftime, putting Pittsburgh down 9-7. In fact, the Bills went on a 20-0 run, but their “streak” ended in the fourth quarter.
On a 10-play drive, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger hit wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster for a three-yard touchdown to cut their deficit to 23-15 following Eric Ebron’s reception on the two-point conversion. The score stopped the bleeding, but by the way the Bills are playing, it might not matter.
The late touchdown ultimately didn’t count
As you might’ve noticed, we didn’t get the typical dancing in the end zone by Smith-Schuster, and that’s mostly due to the team being behind. The receiver’s pregame TikTok dance on the Bills logo looks to have come back to haunt him.
Following the Steelers touchdown, the Bills stormed down the field on 11-plays, but ultimately settled for a 23-yard field goal by rookie kicker Tyler Bass to extend their lead to 26-15.
Roethlisberger was on a mission on the next drive, looking to cut into the Bills’ deficit even further. Unfortunately for the 17-year veteran, it ended on three plays after throwing an interception to Buffalo cornerback Levi Wallace as he was targeting James Washington deep downfield.
Sure, the Steelers did prevent the shutout but the game was too out of reach. The late pick solidified that.
