The Dolphins and Jets game might be the most important one of the weekend.
The NFL season is winding down. That means the playoffs are right around the corner.
Despite what fans might say, it’s an eight-team race for seven spots in the NFC. In the AFC, nine teams are battling it out, hoping to claim victory for the final spot. And yes, while it seems crazy, it’s actually not.
One team could be eliminated Saturday afternoon. The question is, will the Miami Dolphins continue their splash by dethroning the Las Vegas Raiders?
The Raiders once sat at 6-3 following a close loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Since them, they’ve lost four of their last five games. It really should be five, but the New York Jets are going to New York Jets themselves into losing.
A lose mathematically eliminates the Raiders from the playoffs. It also puts a damper on the third season the Jon Gruden revival out west. After paying him $100 million up front, things are looking south for the once promising coach and his status.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins are on pace to continue their hot streak. NFL fans rejoiced when they eliminated the New England Patriots from the postseason for the first time since 2008. Tua Tagovailoa has been a constant middle man for the team. That’s all the rookie has to be thanks to quality play from the defense.
With the interception and fumble recovery last week, the Dolphins now have the longest active streak in turnovers with 20 games on the season. Could this be a sign of what is come for their long-term future?
