Aaron Rodgers is feeling really good as he prepares for his postseason bye.
The Green Bay Packers blitzed to the NFC’s top seed, a feat that made them the only team in the conference to earn a first-round bye in the expanded playoff format. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, fresh off capping a regular season that will likely end in his third MVP award, is feeling like his younger self, a fact that is exactly what other contenders in the NFC did not want to hear.
Rodgers claims that he is feeling as good as he’s ever felt, a thought that has to be worrisome for the rest of the NFC considering how well he’s played this year.
Aaron Rodgers is eyeing playoff success after one of the greatest regular seasons in NFL history
Perhaps motivated by the selection of Jordan Love in the draft, Rodgers put together one of the best seasons in NFL history, throwing an absurd 48 touchdowns against just five picks, all the while leading the NFL in completion percentage and throwing multiple touchdowns in 14 of his 16 starts. If you remove his stinker against the Buccaneers, he would’ve broken his own record for the highest passer rating in a single season in NFL history.
While the Green Bay defense is a far cry from Lombardi’s dominant unit in the 60’s, and the lack of depth at wide receiver outside of Davante Adams is noticeable, the Packers are considered the favorites to come out of the NFC in large part due to the fact Rodgers is having an uncommonly good season.
While Tampa Bay proved that Rodgers is human and can be defeated, his performance over the last few weeks goes to show that Matt LaFleur and Green Bay will be as tough an out in these playoffs as anyone.
