Per a report, the Atlanta Falcons will hold a virtual interview on Thursday with Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.
Once the Atlanta Falcons decided to fire former head coach Dan Quinn in October, you figured there’d be several candidates ready to jump at the opportunity to interview for the job. That’s not-so-great news for the Green Bay Packers.
Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Falcons will be hosting a virtual interview with Green Bay offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett on Thursday. While Aaron Rodgers is the straw that stirs the drink for the Packers’ aerial attack, Hackett has done wonders with the offense.
Now, could he potentially end up leaving Lambeau Field to become the new head coach for the Falcons?
The Falcons are looking at Nathaniel Hackett to potentially become their next head coach
There are multiple targets Atlanta is looking at and Nathaniel is no question an intriguing option. During the regular season, the Packers went 13-3 and locked in the No. 1 seed for the NFC postseason. While Rodgers’ talents can’t be measured, you also have to give Hackett plenty of credit for how great the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback has been.
Thus far this year, Rodgers has thrown for 4,299 yards, 48 touchdowns and five interceptions. Those are the kinds of numbers that have him as the favorite to win NFL MVP this season. Should he get that job done, he’ll certainly have Hackett among the people he thanks.
For the Falcons, they’re looking for a new coach to come in and provide a spark to the team. Atlanta crawled its way to an abysmal 4-12 record this year. With some new energy needed and a hire that will hopefully provide the fans with some excitement, Hackett may just be the right guy.
