Alvin Kamara’s tweet indicates he’ll play in Sunday’s Wild Card game

If Alvin Kamara’s tweet means anything, he’ll be back on the field for Sunday’s game.

The NFC Wild Card Round will begin this weekend as seven teams battle it out for the conference title. The New Orleans Saints are built to win for the long haul after a strong season in the NFC South.

One thing they’ve relied on is the status of Alvin Kamara. Entering Friday, things are looking up for the Saints running back.

Kamara took to Twitter on Thursday night to let fans know he would “see them on Sunday” when the Saints take on the Chicago Bears. With the COVID-19 protocol not allowing players to be around the team, it’s an indication that Kamara will be playing when the Saints come marching in.

Kamara’s presence could be essential for the Saints’ success

The Saints were hopeful that Kamara would be able to play following his positive test last Friday for COVID-19. Last week in the season finale against Carolina, Kamara, along with all other running backs, was ruled out due to close contact.

Sunday would be the first day that Kamara would be eligible to return from the reserve/COVID-19 list if he passes all of the league’s coronavirus protocols throughout the week. If the tweet stands true, it likely means his tests have been negative over the past week.

Kamara led New Orleans in rushing and receiving yards during the regular season, posting 932 rushing yards and 756 receiving yards with 21 total touchdowns. On Christmas, Kamara tied a record, scoring six touchdowns in a 52-33 over the Minnesota Vikings.

Chicago and New Orleans have already met once this season out in Soldier Field. The game was forced to go to overtime and came down to a Will Lutz field goal to give the Saints a 26-23 victory.

Kamara led New Orleans in both rushing (67) and receiving (96) yards on the evening.

With how much Drew Brees uses Kamara, this could be the big nail in the coffin for Chicago. Expect another breakout game from potential the league’s Offensive Player of the Year.
