JuJu Smith-Schuster added some fuel to the Cleveland Browns’ playoff fire.
Leave it up to Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to create yet another distraction for his football team, as he just poked the bear that is the division rival Cleveland Browns with another out-of-nowhere comment.
The No. 3 Steelers will host the No. 6 Browns in an AFC Wild Card game. While this is Cleveland’s first postseason game since 2002, why is Smith-Schuster the one who keeps acting like he has never been in the end zone before? Though it is not another TikTok video, his latest quote will inspire legions of T-shirts for Browns players and rowdy members of the Dawg Pound to wear.
“I think they’re still the same Browns teams I play every year. “I think they’re nameless gray faces. They have a couple good players on their team, but at the end of the day, I don’t know. The Browns is the Browns.”
There is always something about the Steelers in games like this
Not since falling to the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl 45 have the Steelers won the AFC. It has been 12 years since Pittsburgh hoisted a Lombardi Trophy. In the years since that fateful day in Arlington, it has been a lot of Facebook Live videos, contract holdouts, helmet fights and TikTok videos, all the while notoriously playing down to the level of their competition. It is not working.
Head coach Mike Tomlin may be a master of handling adversity, but we have to wonder how much of it is self-inflicted coming Pittsburgh’s way. In short, why is Smith-Schuster acting like he plays for the Browns ahead of a Browns playoff game? Cleveland might be battling COVID internally, but these are not just a bunch of nameless dudes. These guys can ball and he should know that.
If the Browns beat the Steelers again, let me know where I can get a “nameless gray faces” shirt.
