Drew Brees and his wife shared a moment on the field Sunday night following what was likely his final game in a Saints uniform.
Getting a proper sendoff in professional sports is not always as easy as winning a title and riding off into the sunset.
The New Orleans Saints fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday in what was likely Drew Brees’ final game in the NFL. It was clear he was not his former self and ironically, was knocked out of the playoffs by someone even older than himself in Tom Brady.
Brees and Brady had a moment on the Superdome field following the game, but perhaps the biggest sign of Brees’ likely retirement came when him and his wife, Brittany, exchanged a tender moment with their kids running around beside them.
The Brees’ share a moment
Drew and Brittany got married when he was a member of the San Diego Chargers. They then made the decision to move to New Orleans right after Hurricane Katrina. That move is now history and the Brees name will always hold a special place in the heart of everyone from the city and the region.
Brees going back on the field with his kids and talking with Brady seemed like the end of a sports movie about two great competitors. His wife joining him seemed to signal it could be the final time on that field as an active player.
The legendary quarterback has not yet officially announced his retirement. However, him returning would be a shock given his age, declining abilities, and the serious injury he suffered earlier this season.
The Brees family will go down as legends in New Orleans and the entire state of Louisiana. Enjoying one final moment on the Superdome turf is something they should remember forever.
