Browns fans had some fun with the news the Steelers interviewed Hue Jackson for the vacant offensive coordinator job in Pittsburgh.
The Pittsburgh Steelers likely have just one year of Ben Roethlisberger left before a new era is truly ushered in. That is why some news from Thursday had to shock plenty of fans.
The news was that former Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson got an interview to be the offensive coordinator. Yes, the same Hue Jackson whose 1-31 start lives on in Browns lore for its insanity.
Matt Canada seemed to have the job wrapped up, but it appears Jackson is in the running as well. This had Browns fans trolling the Steelers on social media the same day Pittsburgh also signed Dwayne Haskins.
Browns fans love the idea of Jackson in Pittsburgh
Whatever reputation Jackson had built up before coming to Cleveland was severely tarnished during his time with the team. He went 3-36-1 before being fired during the 2018 season, and Steelers fans always saw the matchup as an automatic win. Now they may be wondering if their own team is set to spiral.
Canada should still be the favorite for the position. Roethlisberger should also have some input as well, given it is likely his final NFL season. But Jackson did have success as a coordinator before coming to Cleveland, so that is working in his favor.
Jackson spent his time in Cleveland losing, making excuses and ultimately looking foolish on Hard Knocks. The team improved the moment he left, even under the unprepared Freddie Kitchens, proving it was never going to work with Jackson.
Browns fans already got revenge this year with the thrilling playoff win over the Steelers. Jackson signing on in Pittsburgh would provide enough joy to last the entire offseason in Northeast Ohio.
