Packers’ defensive coordinator Mike Pettine used their embarrassing NFC Championship game loss to motivate the team for this weekend’s playoff matchup.
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers take on Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend in the NFC Championship game. This matchup is highly anticipated for many reasons, but likely most of all because it’s the first-ever playoff meeting between Brady and Rodgers. While Brady attempts to take his new team to the promised land, the Packers are looking to avenge the utterly embarrassing loss they suffered to the San Fransisco 49ers in the same game last season.
The 37-20 loss to the Niners stung so bad for Green Bay that defensive coordinator Mike Pettine decided to show the game in the Packers’ film session as they prepare for the Bucs.
The Pack should still be pissed about their effort in that game. You have to deduce it to effort when you give up 220 yards and four touchdowns to one guy. Raheem Mostert had a field day with the Packers’ defense while Jimmy Garrapolo cruised to a win only throwing the football eight times for 77 yards in the game.
Rashan Gary was late for his presser this afternoon because the film had him out of sorts.
The Packers will need all of the fuel they can get as Tom Brady and the Bucs roll into town fresh off of ending Drew Brees’s career. It is the fourth NFC Championship game appearance in the past seven years for Green Bay but Rodgers hasn’t been back to the Super Bowl in 10 years.
We’ll see if Green Bay can right their wrongs this time around.
