Patrick Mahomes had a message for Chiefs Kingdom after locking in a trip to Tampa for the Super Bowl against the Bucs.
Patrick Mahomes is heading to Tampa for Super Bowl LV and he expects Chiefs Kingdom to follow him.
The Kansas City quarterback tweeted his first message to fans after winning the AFC Championship on Sunday night.
It was short and sweet:
See y’all in Tampa ✌🏽 #ChiefsKingdom
— Patrick Mahomes II (@PatrickMahomes) January 25, 2021
His next tweet was even more pointed, with an emoji expressing all he needed to say.
After all, Mahomes is the one who gets to go to Florida in a couple of weeks.
Patrick Mahomes is focused on the next step in his postseason journey
Mahomes hasn’t had to leave the comforts of Arrowhead yet during this playoffs run. The Chiefs battled the Browns in the divisional round with Mahomes throwing for 255 yards and a touchdown. He added a score on the ground as well. By notching the 22-17 win, KC clinched their third-straight AFC title game appearance in a row.
The Bills came to visit the Chiefs next on Sunday. The meeting resulted in a much more comfortable 38-24 victory for Mahomes and company. The quarterback tossed three touchdowns and 325 yards to win the conference championship.
Mahomes now has two weeks to prepare for the toughest test yet: A date with Tom Brady and a fierce Tampa Bay defense.
The Bucs will be on their home turf this time, but that didn’t stop Mahomes from putting up numbers in their previous meeting. He had 462 yards passing and three touchdowns during November’s 27-24 win at Raymond James Stadium.
A Super Bowl would be a fitting end to the 2020 season for Mahomes. He finished his fourth regular season in the league with 4,740 yards passing and 38 touchdowns. Incredibly, those aren’t even career numbers.
