New England Patriots fans are experiencing all kinds of emotions after watching Tom Brady lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Super Bowl 55.
Back in March, New England Patriots fans were expecting the worst. After being eliminated in the AFC Wild Card Round by the Tennessee Titans and with limited cap space entering the new league year, the Patriots opted to part ways with quarterback Tom Brady. Shortly afterwards, Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Who could blame him? The Buccaneers had a loaded supporting cast on offense.
Patriots fans knew it was entirely possible Brady could lead Tampa Bay to the Super Bowl in the next two years. As it turns out, it only took one season, as the Buccaneers defeated the Green Bay Packers 31-26 to clinch a spot in Super Bowl 55.
How did Patriots fans react to this news? Well with every emotion imaginable!
Patriots fans are processing this whole ordeal
Back in 1999, the Patriots took a chance on a young quarterback out of Michigan with the 199th-overall pick in that year’s NFL Draft. There were no high expectations for him after subpar seasons with the Wolverines. But Brady showed the world what he was made of after he stepped in for an injured Drew Bledsoe in 2001.
After winning the starting job from Bledsoe, Brady led the Patriots to 13 AFC Championship Games and nine Super Bowl appearances. Most importantly, Brady played a hand in the Patriots hoisting the Lombardi Trophy an NFL record six-times.
For Brady, 20 years in New England was delightful, but he was looking to prove his worth elsewhere. Patriots fans certainly didn’t fault him, considering the team lacked quality offensive playmakers and suffered a purge of talent this past offseason. While some will cheer Brady on, there are other Patriot fanatics who will have a hard time cheering for. Let’s be honest, everyone will be rooting for the Buccaneers if the Buffalo Bills win the AFC Championship. That’s a given!
