Deshaun Watson wants out of Houston and Twitter officially lost their minds over it.
Low and behold the news is true. Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans are headed for a divorce.
The Texans franchise quarterback officially requested a trade according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday morning. The news comes mere hours after the team announced they were expected to hire David Culley, a former Baltimore Ravens assistant coach to their opening head coaching position.
A person of Watson’s status usually will never be found on the market. The Texans organization has been in shambles all offseason and now has taken a complete turn for the hills. Now the question will turn to the next several weeks where he lands for the 2021 season?
All that is still in the process of unfolding. What isn’t is Twitter losing their minds on the recent news that seemed too good to be true.
Twitter officially goes nuts over the Deshaun Watson news
First, there was the initial report that Watson wanted to leave the franchise in the Lone Star State.
News got even juicier when it was reported that not only did Watson request a trade weeks ago, but he hasn’t spoken to the franchise since the hiring of Nick Caserio.
Then, fans started to riot and type of tweets as fast as they could.
Naturally, here came the graphics of all the teams that Watson would look best in donning their jerseys.
Even ESPN joined in on the fun and tweeted out what they believed would be a “fair package” for Watson’s services.
Plus, with the news of Robinhood taking over the internet, a few jokes of “trading” were thrown into the mix.
Is Watson officially gone?
Just because Watson put in a request doesn’t mean he’ll be leaving Houston anytime soon. Instead, the two parties will have to come to an arrangement that benefits both. If they can’t reach a deal, no trade will come.
Houston has one shot to try and fix this, but it’s on life support at best. The Texans only have themselves to blame at this point in the mess they’ve caused.
