Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni had his first presser on Friday afternoon and it didn’t go as well as he probably had hoped.
In his first presser as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Nick Sirianni seemed quite nervous. His initial interview for the head coaching job was hilariously casual, so this presser almost comes as no surprise. Still, it was pretty awkward to watch.
We all know how tough Philadelphia and its media can be but nothing could’ve prepared Sirianni for his first outing in front of his new fanbase.
Team owner Jeffrey Lurie started the press conference by explaining what went on in the hiring process and what ultimately led to the selection of Sirianni. ‘High character’ and ‘high football IQ’ were two things Lurie was adamant about having in a head coach and he stressed that Sirianni brings both of them to Philly.
You might question that statement if you saw any of Sirianni’s time at the podium.
Watch as Sirianni fumbles over his words in trying to explain the “systems and procedures” that the Eagles will put in place to get them back into Super Bowl contention.
You almost have to feel bad for the guy.
He’s inheriting a team in a city that expects greatness almost immediately and a quarterback situation that would be tough for anyone to navigate. After his initial speech blunders, Sirianni would settle in and Eagles fans got to see the motivation and passion that surely made him a top candidate for the job.
Eagles fans have to hope Sirianni becomes more comfortable in the near future or it could be another long season.
