In an NFL season with several postponements, cancellations, and surprises, will there be fans in the stands at Super Bowl LV?
Super Bowl LV is set to take place on Sunday, Feb. 7 in Tampa at Raymond James Stadium as Tom Brady and his home team Tampa Bay Buccaneers look to stop Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs from repeating as Super Bowl champs.
The biggest sporting event in the world taking place amid COVID-19 concerns definitely warrants some concerns as far as health and safety issues go. The NBA obviously had the best approach to their postseason pandemic-proof plan, successfully executing the “bubble” and already having started another season.
The MLB handled things well for the most part, sans a Justin Turner trophy celebration appearance. The NFL has struggled the most of the big three, and reasonably so with larger team and staff numbers than the aforementioned sports.
With a new president in office, many sports fans are wondering if fans will be permitted into the stadium for the Super Bowl. The short answer is yes, but the stadium won’t be at full capacity.
How many fans are allowed to attend Super Bowl LV?
The NFL has confirmed that there will be fans in attendance for Super Bowl LV but COVID-19 certainly won’t allow for stadiums to be at full capacity any time soon.
Raymond James Stadium has the capacity to seat over 65,000 fans but will have only about 22,000 on hand for the big game. The NFL’s league-wide in-person attendance health and safety guidelines are sure to be strictly enforced.
